Dr. Myron Glickfeld
I handled a rather difficult case yesterday involving extent of injury to a herniated disc. The problem
was that there were two myelograms in the case. One showed nothing and the second showed a large herniated disc.
The first myelogram was done incorrectly so the dye that is inserted in the spinal fluid did not disperse throughout the spinal
levels to show the defects. This resulted in the insurance carrier denying liability for the herniated disc. They
argued that it wasn't there on the first myelogram, and because it did appear on the second myelogram something must have
happened in between to cause it. Therfore, the work incident was not the cause.
Dr. Glickfeld was the injured
workers' surgeon. He offices in Fort Worth. He came down to the Division of Workers' Compensation personally,
put the films up on the screen and showed the judge how the first myelogram was messed up by the technician. This testimony
was very persuasive. So, kudos to Dr. Glickfeld for taking the time, leaving his practice on a surgery day, and coming
down to the DWC to testify on behalf of his patient. Just so you know, that kind of thing never happens.
I just wanted to publicly thank Dr. Glickfeld for what he did for his patient yesterday. There was really no way to
prevail on that case without his testimony. He may not ever see this post, but if you need a surgeon and you see him
in Fort Worth, tell him you heard about how much he cares about his patients and some lawyer was praising him for personally
participating in his patients' claims disputes.
